My Journey from shadow to light and so much more...

Anticipate

Anticipate. According to a Google search, under the header of www.merriam-webster.com, Anticipate means (simply put) "to foresee and deal with something beforehand".

This word came to me as I was doing the dishes this morning.

It asked to be witnessed, considered, and explored from the perspective of

Multidimensional Care @ the Bedside.

So, that's what I did.

Here is my reflection journey on the word, anticipate, which lasted only a few minutes as I washed the dishes.

My nursing career, twenty-one years thus far, is encompassed within the walls of one small community hospital in Southern MN. In this healing space, I've practiced nursing in several of the hospital departments as well as various levels of leadership. No matter what role I was in on any given shift, I practiced the art of anticipation (although not consciously calling it that at the time) and, the more in tune I grew with my multidimensional (clair) senses, the more aligned I found the flow of my shift and my ability to anticipate the needs of the patients, families, other care team members, and providers.

NOTE: Regarding the phrase above, the more in tune I grew with my multidimensional senses, I refer to the intentional cultivation of clair senses through my professional growth journey of becoming a Board-Certified Holistic Nurse, Transformative Nurse Trainer, and Healing Touch energy healing courses.

Anticipating the needs of another human being, in any given situation, is a trial and error learning journey of recognizing multidimensional guidance and how to interpret it.

I can't emphasize this enough:
The more you practice the tools that allow you to open your multidimensional senses in a calm space, the easier it will be to access and integrate them when you are in highly energized, fast-paced, intense, emergent, and life-saving situations.
If you're not sure where to start, what tools to use or try first, start with presence.

As one practices the care of patients and works with a multidisciplinary healthcare team they are presented with endless opportunities for presence. The space of presence provides the foundation for multidimensional senses to have an audience (to be consciously witnessed and integrated into mental processes and action choices) and to become a guiding light in the interactions we move through at any given moment.

Essentially, the opening of multidimensional senses for a caregiver allows them to more easily anticipate the person's needs whom they are working with by interpreting the energy of the person/situation, now or in the future, and be better prepared for what is to come.

It is well known that all beings emit light. That light IS information. That information is information ABOUT the being that is emitting it. Our multidimensional senses are innate within every one of us and are THE TOOL to interpret that light; that information.

Play with the concept:

Think of a time when you just knew that a patient was going to need something more... you had a gut feeling about something so you alerted another team member or provider "on a hunch" or monitored the patient and their vitals more closely even though it wasn't clinically called for. That is your multidimensional senses at work.

You anticipated, foresaw, something beforehand and took steps to be prepared.

Invitation to practice awareness:

Now that you are familiar with the concept of anticipation and how it related to Multidimensional Care @ the Bedside, have fun practicing awareness of how you see it play out in your work!

I would love to hear your your experiences!

Until next time, enjoy the expansion, my friends! ✨️
