Freedom Within | Honoring Independence Through Inner Awareness

As we celebrate Independence Day, we often reflect on the freedoms we enjoy in our communities and country. But what about the freedoms we cultivate within ourselves?


In the spirit of multidimensional care, I invite you to explore inner independence—the ability to pause, reflect, and choose how we respond to the world around us. This kind of freedom is rooted in self-awareness, emotional clarity, and energetic balance. It’s what allows us to care deeply for others without losing ourselves in the process.


Try This:

Take a few minutes this week to practice one of these “freedom tools”:


  • Centering Breath – Inhale slowly for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4. Repeat 3 times to return to your center.

  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation – Gently tense and release each muscle group from head to toe.

  • Guided Imagery – Close your eyes and imagine a peaceful place—forest, beach, or prairie. Let your senses fill in the details.

  • Give EFT Tapping a try - Learn the basics of Emotional Freedom Technique with this beginner-friendly video: What is EFT Tapping, How Does it Work and How Do You Tap? by Dr. Peta Stapleton


Reflection Prompt:

Where in my life or work do I feel most free?

Where do I feel most constrained?

What small shift could I make this week to reclaim a sense of inner independence?”
