The Full Moon Phase + Names & Types | Lunar Threads | Weaving Awareness of Moon Energies into Daily Life

Updated: 1 day ago

Moon Phases Series | Full Moon

—New | 1st Quarter | Full | Last Quarter—

Waxing Crescent | Waxing Gibbous | Waning Gibbous | Waning Crescent

Each moon phase holds a unique energetic frequency and spiritual purpose in the cycle of creation, release, and embodiment. You can learn the current moon phase with a simple web search or by using apps on your personal device. My favorite for Android is the Moon Phase Calendar.

If you're new to working with the moon energies I recommend you practice playing with the four main phases, New, 1st Quarter, Full, and Last Quarter, before including the intermediate phases of waning and waxing crescent and gibbous. You may want to explore with these four phases for a month, three months, or more - a good rule of thumb is to feel comfortable with them and understand them to the degree that you no longer need to reference this information to understand how to weave their energies into your daily life.

The following information will serve as a basic foundation for the Lunar Thread weaving of full moon energies. Please, always, explore your own inner-standing in relation to this information and take inspired action from grounded sovereignty.

Full Moon | Illumination + Release

The Full Moon is a peak portal of energy, insight, and manifestation. It reveals what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to be released. Emotions are heightened, clarity is available, and healing is amplified.

This moon phase is also a time for celebrating and receiving the rewards of your work. Celebrate yourself and what you’ve accomplished so far.

Full Moon Reflections:

  • What am I grateful for during this full moon illumination?

    • Bonus: Magnetize the gratitude exponentially by creating a list and/or drawing of what you are grateful for.

  • What truth is being illuminated for me?

  • What am I ready to celebrate?

    • Woohoo! Celebrate that now!

  • What have I learned since the New Moon phase?

    • It can be helpful to capture your learnings in writing and/or drawing so you can look back on them as reference for integrating them during the Waning Gibbous phase.

  • What am I ready to release?

    • Begin to let go of this now. If you find this difficult, set the intention to release whatever it is fully by the Last Quarter moon phase.

  • What emotions need acknowledgment and clearing?

    • Begin this now. If you find this difficult, set the intention to fully clear by the Last Quarter moon phase.

Lunar Manifestation Energy Flow

New Moon | New beginnings. Dream about what you want to create

Waxing Crescent | Now set the intention to create it

1st Quarter | Take inspired action on what you are creating

Waxing Gibbous | Continue to hold the intention aligned with the inspired action - trust that your creation is taking form

Full Moon | Express gratitude for your creation and 'harvest' all blessings from the experience as well as any learnings and releasing that is being illuminated... The learnings and releasing will be weaved into the next two phases.

Waning Gibbous | Reflect on and integrate the learnings

Last Quarter | Release what no longer serves you

Waning Crescent | Rest

Full Moon Names

Because traditional cultures tracked the seasons, cycles of nature, and rhythms of life through the moon, every full moon carries a different name . Before calendars were standardized, full moon names acted as markers of time, tied to what was happening in the natural world or in community life. In essence, the different names help us tune into the natural cycles of Earth, weaving human life with the rhythm of the moon.
